Hey,

embedit.me is awesome. great job!

Have you already found a explanation for your benchmarks?
The requests getting the embed code should probably be the most expensive... so this is really strange.
Perhaps we can benchmark the parsing of the URL that finds the correct provider. I could imagine that this is a little bottleneck.

p.s. thanks for mentioning ;)

No problem, keep an eye on Panda, the guys at New-Bamboo have been pulling in some of my changes so expect a more stable Panda + Mysql version soon

Red,

This looks very promising. As you say, the recipe needs some tidying up to be more generally useful (e.g. the install_required_files task) but it's certainly helpful to have an idea of the dependencies.

Thanks for taking the time to share your experience with implementing Panda on a VPS with MySQL.

Hey Andy, thanks! I can't see any reason why not, as long as those API's support it.

I don't want the command list to get really long, but thumbnails sound like an appropriate add-on. I'll look into it and you'll probably see it on the next release.

Let me know how you find Embedit. I'll try to set-up a proper mini site for it sometime and a lighthouse account. I'm also thinking on probably turning it into a web service rather than a gem, so that so that potentially any language can use it.
